One thing most of us are guilty of being high school students is saying, “My life is so terrible,” and “How come I was given the life I have?” But let’s be honest: is it really as bad as we think? Do we really have horrible lives?
Most people, especially teens, tend to take most things in their life for granted.
Having a positive personality and changing your mindset about things can completely flip your life around.
For example, instead of saying, “I have to go to school”, you could say, “I get to go to school.”
We are so lucky to have access to such an amazing school and education program when millions of children around the world will never have that opportunity.
Another thing most teens will tend to take for granted is family. Yes, Sometimes family might be annoying, and they might argue with you, but you are so lucky to have them.
Your family will always support you and have your back. We are so lucky to have something like that when many people have to take complete care of themselves.
Waking up in the morning might be the hardest part of my day. I know we all don’t want to get out of bed, but we get to live another day. How amazing is that?!
In those hours we were asleep, so many people’s lives were claimed. You should live every day like it’s your last, because you’ll never know when that will be.
Another big thing is health and looks. How lucky are we to have a stomach filled with food, when others eat anything they can find?
How amazing is it that some of us might have bags under our eyes when others weren’t even given the blessing of vision?
It’s so great to have body hair when other people are losing all their hair to cancer.
Things are never as bad as they appear. It’s so important to stay positive and be the sun shining through the clouds.
Thinking positively comes from a few main concepts, practicing gratitude: take into account all the wonderful things in your life and appreciate them.
Be kind to yourself: it might sound crazy, but in order to love others you have to learn to love yourself.
Reflect negative thoughts: if someone says something bad about you, they’re just jealous. This well-known quote about negativity can have a lot of effect: “An entire sea of water can’t sink a ship unless it gets inside the ship. Similarly, the negativity of the world can’t put you down unless you allow it to get inside of you.” -Goi Nasu.
Another effective way of practicing positivity is to look for the good things in life.
Don’t let one bad test score ruin the rest of your week. Life is full of ups and downs, you might as well focus on the good times when you’re in them.
It’s actually scientifically proven that 87 percent of people who have a positive mindset live a healthier life and are generally more happy.
Changing perspective and giving yourself a completely different mindset can overall lead to a better, happier life.
