Fans raise their phones as Tyler The Creator lights up the stage.
Fans of the artist Tyler The Creator have heard nothing but complete silence after the release of his sixth album, Call Me If You Get Lost.
No singles, no posts, or any sort of hints of him returning to make more music.
The absence left supporters questioning if he had retired, or secretly coming up with something big.
That changed on October 17th, 2024, when Tyler stunned his fans with a teaser of his new album, Two weeks later, “CHROMAKOPIA” opened with the track “St. Chroma” ft Daniel Cesar. The expectations of this album was nothing like what fans thought it would be. They expected an average heavy hiphop or rap album, but Tyler came with more mixed emotions.
In the song “Like Him” ft Lola Young, Tyler shares about his resemblance to his absent father such as his posture, expressions, and mannerisms. Then, continues to rap about his paranoia and pressures of fame in the song “Rah Tah Tah”.
Fans were immediately going wild with this release, it has gone very viral on social medias fans were using hashtags such as “#Tylesback,” “#CHROMAKOPIA,” and “StChroma.” For the entire month, Tiktok was flooded with reaction clips, new dance trends, and fashion content tied to the album.
Tyler reached over 50 million monthly listeners five weeks after the drop.
This success encouraged Tyler the Creator to launch a worldwide tour, which is one of the longest tours made, starting in North America and ending in the Phillipians.
Fans were very pleased with the tour. Most say that every show felt like a full production with its stage designs, visuals, and other hit songs besides the ones on “CHROMAKOPIA.”
During the tour, July 21 Tyler stunned the world again with his 8th album “Don’t Tap The Glass.”
Unlike Chromakopia (which was full of conflicting mixed emotions) this album explored the different beats including electro, synth-funk, and disco.
Even though Tyler wasn’t very emotional in this project, he still included one song that showed him vowing to his significant other about protecting them from pressures and detractions, also showing off his strength and faithfulness in the song “I’ll Take Care Of You”
Tyler’s career took off when he gained recognition as the leader of Odd Future, an alternative hiphop collective that became extremely popular in the early 2010s.
His debut album, Goblin, caught many attention due to its dark lyrics and aggressive style.
From there his career took off with albums like “Wolf, Cherry Bomb,” and the hit album “Igor.”
“Igor” reached its height when Tyler released it, winning a grammy for best rap album in 2019.
After that came “Call Me If You Get Lost” , the album before his 5 year disappearance.
Ever since his great comeback, Tyler has become more viral than ever, inspiring his teen audience with outfit inspirations and self expressions, causing them to make more friends.
