Alec Benjamin is always coming out with great hit songs, and for many of those who may or may not know about him, he just dropped a new song along with his latest album.
His new song was recently released on December 7, titled “I Sent My Therapist to Therapy”. He commented regarding this dropped song, saying, “It combines the two most therapeutic things in my life into one: music and therapy itself. I hope listening to this song provides the same level of catharsis for anyone struggling with their mental health as writing it did for me.” Along with his many other songs–just from the title–you can tell it’s going to have a deep meaning and connotations behind the lyrics, meaning another story is going to be told.
He doesn’t drop albums often, however, his latest album is called “(Un)Commentary”, released in 2022. This album contains 4 songs in total, each with very interesting names. One of which is “Nancy got a haircut”.
His last three albums are called “Narrated For You” with 12 songs, “(Un)Commentary”, which is his largest album with 13 songs, and lastly, “These Two Windows”, which stands at his smallest album with 10 songs tracks.
A new album is expected sometime in 2024, and it is going to be Benjamin’s fourth ever. His songs all have deep meanings, so it is safe to say we can anticipate that.
Benjamin currently doesn’t have any upcoming venues yet, however, he is still creating content and albums.
His first song ever created was “Paper Crown” in 2014. Then Dance Makerick Hannah performed “I Built a Friend”, which was also a big awakening of Benjamin’s content and music. His breakthrough was in the song “Let Me Down Slowly” in 2018. Later, Benjamin spoke out, discussing that “Let Me Down Slowly” was about an incident with an ex-girlfriend.
Benjamin himself said he was influenced by the rapper Eminem and John Mayer.
Benjamin is known to write his music, although recently, he said the unexpected. He uses chatGPT and AI to help him create content. For him to create “(Un)Commentary”, he clearly expressed he used ChatGPT to help him with his ideas and talked about his fascination with AI and is looking forward to seeing how it progresses as it works much like the human brain. Benjamin said on the Zach Sang Show, “It didn’t give me full song ideas or full lyric ideas, but … I could type in a lyric and be like, ‘I’m stuck here, where should it go next?’ And it would give me some ideas that maybe I wouldn’t necessarily use, but spark something in my brain.” He also said, “I just figured, you know, the technology is changing, and it’s gonna happen anyway, so I might as well be a part of it.”
The significance of many of his songs has meanings and an influence on many different audiences.
