TikTok is a very popular app, everyone can agree. And if you don’t agree, the statistics will say otherwise. According to the Social Sheperd, “Kids between 11 and 17 are spending nearly two hours per day on TikTok, making it the social media platform they use the most.”
All of the fuss about who owns TikTok ceases to prevent people from using it. This is the app where anyone can become a voice and feel heard.
Most use TikTok because of the strong, supportive community built around it.
Nonetheless, people will be people. No matter what app you decide to use, there are going to be both positive, and negative users. And one thing almost every TikTok video contains is music.
Music is a big part of today’s generation/culture. Music has always been how people get to exhibit who they are and what they like. It’s an amazing and impactful notion that everyone should be able to experience.
TikTok is always generating new trending audios. Sounds that go viral on TikTok is an exceptional thing for the artists. It gives them more recognition, promotes their music, and will overall make them more income.
It’s an amazing, positive thing that we have an app that can promote talented artists’ and give them the well-earned recognition they deserve. Other than just benefiting the artist, it’s benefiting the people.
The millions of people on TikTok get exposed to many talented, new creators. Users on TikTok are able to find music that they love, while the artist gains more listeners.
It’s a beautiful process, but like I said before, people will be people. Negative people on this app tend to criticize others for listening to the music trending on TikTok.
Of course if a sound is very big on TikTok, and many people enjoy it, they’re going to look up the entire song and start listening. This is how people get to find who they are. They hear music they appreciate, research the creator, and find more music like it.
Simple, and understandable, this process is what tends to occur with many kids. Who are we to shame that?
Why shame and insult teens for listening to music they take pleasure in? It’s sad how certain people on the app can talk down to another person (potentially younger than them) for listening to streaming artists.
Let people listen to what they want. Let people find music that they can relate to.
At the end of the day, you can listen to what you want. If you have a problem with the music trending on social media, don’t listen to it. It doesn’t give you the right, however, to hate on others for doing so.
