Los Osos Band faces new changes from uniforms to a new director. Band is a highly anticipated program for Los Osos and is very well known for its talents.
According to the Los Osos music website, “The Regiment is annually ranked in the top of its division throughout Southern California and won gold medals at the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association (SCSBOA) Field Show Championships (5A division) in 2007 and 2012. This ensemble performs challenging musical arrangements choreographed to contemporary, drum-corps style drill movements on the field.” The recent changes the club is undergoing have brought a lot of change and challenges to the topic.
Many have come to terms with new Director Steve Krumbine and in a time like this, the motto “out with the old and in with the new “is a good and appropriate phrase for such circumstances.
Now more than ever is the time to adapt and overcome for the LOHS band team. Many students see the positive of receiving more education from Krumbine and they see it as a new opportunity and fresh start for the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year.
“…it’s exciting to see the new changes that Mr. Krumbine brings. I’m really hopeful for this year and I’m eager to see how the band will grow under Mr. K,” said Junior Madeyln Hamai.
The incoming freshmen had a whole new perspective coming in as they didn’t know who Mr. Encina was before. However, they themselves had opinions on being new to the experience of high school band and how they felt about their new director.
“Mr. K is awesome and great, and [he] can’t wait to do our first tournament and [see] where it will take us and they can’t wait for what next year has to offer,” said Freshmen Crystal Chen and Julia Farthing.
Los Osos Band is already off to an amazing start to the school year with so much more to come.
The Music Program will be playing not only in tournaments but at home football games near the student section.
The marching band is the pride of the community and is known school-wide for their energy and precision. They consider themselves with grizzly pride as not only musicians but a family with various backgrounds.
As the fall semester approaches and the Homecoming parade is right around the corner, the marching band has been working non-stop on their new routines.
Krumbine is eager to see how his students will approach the year while growing under his wing and guidance. He has a special knack for inspiring his students and pushing them to exceed even their own personal expectations and the Grizzly marching band is ready for the task and ready to take on the 2024-2025 school year.
