On October 18, Omar Rudberg released his first-ever Extended Play (EP), “Every Night Fantasy”.
Rudberg is a Venezuelan and Swedish singer and actor who isn’t new to the music world. He made his debut in music in 2013 with a band called “FO&O”, a Swedish pop band. In 2018, he started his solo career by releasing a song called “Que Pasa”. Rudberg has acted in some movies and shows, like “Young Royals” and “Carousel” in Swedish.
The EP contains eight songs. They are “Talk,” “Girlfriend,” “Bye Bye,” “Red Light,” “Lose Me,” “Wrong,” “Sabotage,” and, as a bonus, “Luz Roja.” They all tell a love story with many problems and issues. The playlist contains some upbeat songs while also having some mellotone songs.
“Talk” is one of the EP singles released in July of this year. The song is more upbeat and focuses on the experience of having a good time and flirting with someone, but as things come to an end, trying to forget about them and move on.
This was one of the first songs that I heard from Rudberg and it made me realize how amazing his music truly is. It’s a very sassy song and continues to increase my mood while listening to it
The next song in the EP is called “Girlfriend,” which is by far my favorite song from the playlist.
The song is about how he wants to take this boy home from the party, even though the other boy has a girlfriend. Ruderg starts the song by saying “Someone got you feeling kinda stuck, I don’t care though”; he doesn’t care about anyone else at the party and just wants to have some fun with this guy.
“Girlfriend” gives the same vibe as the song “Boyfriend” by Dove Cameron. Cameron’s song is about her wanting to be with this girl by saying that she will be a better girlfriend instead of her boyfriend. Rudberg’s song is about wanting to be with a guy who has a girlfriend.
Along with “Talk,” “Bye Bye” was also a single before being released on the EP list. “Bye Bye” is also a pop type of song that is about getting cheated on by a guy who then tries to come and get back with him. Rudberg is over it and is saying to leave since he is over him, hence the turtle being “Bye Bye.”
It truly shows how over he is with this guy and doesn’t want him coming back to bother him.
Switching the vibe with the song “Red Light,” which is about liking someone, but not knowing if they feel the same way, he instead just lives in the few memories they had together. The song is very dreamy and makes the listeners truly feel Rudberg’s pain in the confusion of his love for this boy.
We continue back with the upbeat tempo with the song called “Lose Me.” This is his revenge song about him saying how he has moved on from the guy he liked by hanging out with a new guy every day. Instead of being upset about the guy not wanting Rudberg anymore, he instead is making himself a better person. He sings a line saying “You are losing me unintentionally, you are setting me free, so thank you, baby”. This line shows just how over he is with that guy and is now happy it happened.
I like this song because it perfectly demonstrates the way that when you go through a breakup, it isn’t just being sad. Instead, there are points where you feel great that it’s over and you can start a new chapter with your love life. The song’s chorus is also the title of the EP, it says “Every night, a new body, every night fantasy.”
The next song is called “Wrong” and it’s a beautiful love song that has a very wispy feeling to it. It’s about how he has finally found someone who treats him right and gives Rudberg the love he deserves. It’s called “Wrong” because Rudberg says how when he asks for something simple the other guy will give him that and more just to prove his love towards Rudberg. The singer says “Now when I swear blind that I couldn’t love you more, you got a habit of proving me wrong.”
This is just such a beautiful and powerful song about how when you find the right person you won’t have to beg for them to love you and give you the bare minimum.
The last song of the story through the EP is called “Sabotage,” and it truly shows the way that when you are in love you tend to make reckless decisions to not be hurt again. Rudberg is in love, but is scared that he will be hurt again because of what happened in the past, so he sings about hoping that he doesn’t mess things up with the new guy.
The last song is a bonus track that was highly requested from fans which is the Spanish version of “Red Light”. It’s a truly beautiful piece that brings his Venezuelan side into his first-ever EP. It represents his love for his Venezuelan roots and is just a beautiful song to incorporate into the EP.
Though Rudberg isn’t a super popular artist in the United States, he is a great singer and has the vocals of an angel. As a fan, I can’t wait for him to release a full album in the future
You can stream his songs on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Pandora, Deezer and Amazon Music.
