Pierce the Veil has been on the alternative, punk, and rock scene since 2006. With five iconic albums, each distinctly unique, a tour combining them all was bound to happen, especially since Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.
The band had been dropping cryptic hints and Easter eggs for a while prior to the announcement, which fans knew would be major. Signs including symbols representing each of their five albums began popping up in various cities.
A couple days before the announcement, the band had deleted all of their posts and made their profile picture a shade of black on Instagram.
Fans instantly speculated another tour, which I found surprising, as it felt like their previous tour had just ended a few weeks ago. Nonetheless, I was not complaining.
The day before the big announcement, the band had posted a cryptic video on Instagram showing a montage of the symbols that had previously been seen on signs and such representing their albums.
The next day, a similar video was posted, this time featuring a girl in distress. Towards the end of the video, she mouths “I can’t hear you” to the sound of a part from “Pass the Nirvana.”
The end scene was an announcement of tour dates as well as openers, most notably Sleeping with Sirens (who is notoriously close with Pierce the Veil, even having a collaboration with them).
The first set of tickets for the Kia Forum in Inglewood sold out in less than thirty minutes. Another date was quickly added, and I was lucky enough to have a partner that was able to get tickets for us and their friend. Once those sold out, a third date was added for that location.
I have seen several people, including my partner, talking about how “surprisingly affordable” tickets were. Of course, resale prices don’t always reflect that. However, I have seen tickets for around $80 on resale sites, which is close to how much ours were.
I have loved a few sprinkles of Pierce the Veil’s songs for years, most notably “King for a Day” and “Circles”. Even though they are some of the most popular, they mean a lot to me.
Recently, especially since the release of their most recent album, “The Jaws of Life”, my obsession has grown. I absolutely love that album and I’d even go as far as to say that it’s my favorite, which may be controversial within the fandom.
After the announcement, fans have expressed their excitement for Pierce the Veil to perform songs from their debut album, “A Flair for the Dramatic”, as they haven’t performed those songs in years, as well as hearing songs performed from “Misadventures” besides “Circles”.
I’m not as familiar with “A Flair for the Dramatic”, but my partner and I are hoping to hear “Wonderless” and “Yeah Boy and Doll Face”, like many other fans. Of course, I will be more familiar with the album by the time of the show.
Some of my all-time favorite Pierce the Veil songs, despite how controversial they may be, are “Emergency Contact”, “Flawless Execution”, “Million Dollar Houses (The Painter)”, and “Floral & Fading”.
I and many other fans think the chances of these songs being played on tour are high, which only feeds my fangirl delusions. It’s also extremely likely that they will play their biggest hits.
Fans have also expressed their excitement to hear “King for a Day” with Kellin Quinn from Sleeping With Sirens live, which is something I need in my life as soon as possible.
I’m hoping they open the show with “Pass the Nirvana”, as that’s the song that “I can’t hear you” is from as depicted in the video. I think closing the show with “Flawless Execution” or one of their most popular songs will be absolutely iconic.
I am beyond ecstatic to keep up with this tour as I did with Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour and even more excited to be attending with my partner on June 26.
