From Love Island Australia to Love Island UK, this series has kept its audience, me included, well entertained throughout the years with its reoccurring messiness.
From catchy catch phrases to lies told on national TV, this show has always provided us with the addicting drama we as an audience crave. Each season brings news characters to either hate or love, my personal favorite character would have to be Whitney Adebayo from Season Ten of Love Island UK.
Toxic and conflicting relationships seems to be a common theme throughout this series as each season there is at least one couple that is on and off.
Drama galore would be one description I would use to characterize Love Island because of its elements such as Casa Amour, which basically gives islanders a break from their relationships while getting to know other people. I don’t know about you but that seems like glorified cheating.
There are often games played by islanders, one of which is a card game that gives outrageous truth or dares that often end with dramatic truths being revealed and steamy dares being participated in. New incoming islanders are often referred to as “bombshells” because of their seducing looks and the pure fact that they are new.
In the final episodes of Love Island, there is often an episode where contestants dress up and have a “movie night”, which consists of watching back their fellow islanders clips. These clips often compose of them being caught in compromising situations and being caught in lies. One thing I have never been able to figure out for the life of me is why these people on reality TV shows choose to lie knowing they are being recorded like it seems like the most idiotic thing ever, then when clips are replayed they are caught in those lies and are labeled as “cheaters” or “liars”.
Another messy element of these “movie nights” is the fact that the contestants get awards based on how “messy” or “backstabbing” they can be which in the long run seems toxic but makes for great entertainment to its viewers.
Personally getting awarded for such foul behavior does not seem appealing to me but some contestants have taken it graciously while others act surprised as if their playbacks weren’t just broadcasted.
As every show, in Love Island there is often a “villain” or someone deemed as so by the audience because they don’t like the way they move. The villain of my choice would be the producers, they are so downright just messy.
