If you’re a person who loves both romantic and scary films, “Bones and All” is probably the right fit for you. It is a one of a kind, unique film that combines many genres such as adventure, romance, and horror, all in one.
The story is about our main protagonist, Maren, played by Taylor Russel. We follow her character throughout the film and quickly come to the conclusion that she is different.
Maren is not like others, for she eats flesh. She was born with an urge to consume people. She thought she was the only one for a long time, but once her father got up and left, she went looking for answers.
In her journey, she encounters many other “eaters,” and one in particular named Lee.
Lee is played by Timothee Chalamet and is our second protagonist. These two fall in love and go traveling together.
The film itself has many creepy, violent scenes, but it’s overall about love and acceptance. Throughout all these two’s lives, they’ve never felt like they belonged. But with each other, they knew they were right where they needed to be.
They venture off together and go through challenges. But in the end, it’s not enough to make them stay away from each other. They find a way, even if it didn’t last as long as you’d think.
Also, at any given time these two could’ve eaten each other. They were capable of it, and that’s all they ever knew. But, it’s about seeing, and both recognizing your partner’s flaws and still choosing to accept that and also knowing you aren’t perfect either.
With this being said, it’s the fact that even knowing this information about one another, you trust them regardless.
This film is filled with emotional concepts and hidden messages, all open to the viewer’s interpretation. And that’s the reason that this moody film is so special.
The movie is so beautifully filmed and artistic. Every angle, every design, every setting just flows so perfectly, and the vibes from it are incredible.
It’s the type of movie you will want to show your friends and people close to you to see their perspective on it. Once you see it, you’ll have to watch it again. It was beautifully shot, had such a creative, unique tone to it, and entertained so many people.
The messages from it are so beautiful, yet portrayed in such a dark way. It’s different and it’s brilliant. “Bones and All” is a film that should be watched by everyone at least once, who knows how much you’ll find yourself liking it?
