David Anthony Burke, better known as D4VD, is a 20-year-old renowned musician and music artist known for his most popular hit, “Romantic Homicide,” released in early 2022.
Ever since the song blew up, the success has catapulted D4VD in the music industry, and now millions of people worldwide listen to his music. That is, however, until tragedy struck on Sept. 8, 2025, and his name became associated with an investigation regarding the devastating death of a 15-year-old girl.
On Sept. 8, 2025, employees working at the Hollywood Tow Yard reported that there was a foul odor coming from a recently impounded and abandoned Tesla’s trunk.
According to CBS News, upon further investigation, it was discovered that the human remains of a teenage girl named Celeste Rivas Hernandez were stuffed into a bag and thrown into the trunk of the car, with the corpse noticeably seeming as if it had been decomposing for an extended period of time.
The Tesla had been abandoned weeks prior to the discovery of the young girl’s body, and it had originally been towed from the Hollywood Hills after being parked for over 72 hours.
The dark and tragic news about the shocking discovery of this case and famous pop artist and musician D4VD’s possible involvement in it has led to countless theories, shockwaves across the entertainment industry, and unanswered questions.
Fans are furious, claiming that they allowed a possible predator to become famous, while others are distraught and in denial. Some fans are even conducting their own investigations and forming their own absurd conclusions.
According to CNN, the Tesla was registered under the name of David Anthony Burke before it was abandoned. When the body was discovered, D4VD was on his “Withered” world tour. Since he was not at the scene of the crime when the body was found, authorities have not labeled him as a suspect. The disclosure of the homicide became a murder case, with authorities claiming that they will investigate the case further before naming any possible suspects.
As D4VD’s lawyer states that he is currently complying with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division, investigations into the case are being conducted. Recently, information about Celeste Rivas Hernandez was revealed upon interrogation with her mother. CBS News states that Celeste was reported as a missing person, and she was last seen on Apr. 5, 2024, at 9 pm at her home in Lake Elsinore in Riverside County, California.
Hernandez’s mother adds that her daughter had previously run away from home a couple of months before she was reported as missing. However, that time she had safely come back home.
Celeste’s mother also shared more information about her daughter’s private life, explaining to the authorities that Celeste had a boyfriend named David, with whom she had a matching tattoo.
However, the mother reported that she had never actually met her daughter’s boyfriend and that she is just sharing the information that her daughter had previously shared with her.
According to NBC News, authorities discovered that Celeste had a tattoo on the inside of her index finger that read, “shhh…” identical to the one that D4VD has. Although the evidence matches up, fans pointed out that multiple celebrities, including Rihanna, Lyndsay Lohan, Lily Allen, Cher Lloyd, Cheryl Cole, Neymar, and Katy Perry, all share the same tattoo.
Recently, users in D4VD’s Discord server have come forth and reported alleged conversations between an 11-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez and D4VD taking place as early as 2022.
Whether the information is true or not has not been confirmed, but screenshots of the conversations are being leaked and have been circulating around the internet. However, there is a chance that these screenshots may have been photoshopped, which the LAPD is taking into account.
The moderator of this Discord server has chosen to stay anonymous, but they revealed that D4VD and Celeste pursued a romantic relationship together in 2024, and that in a server called “D4VD’s Closet,” there was an announcement stating that Celeste had become pregnant. However, this information has only been considered as speculation since none of it has been confirmed by official authorities yet.
Although D4VD had not been labeled as an official suspect by the LAPD, on September 17, investigators searched a home in Hollywood Hills, a place where D4VD had been residing for a while. They seized several of his electronics, including a computer.
Since the remains of Celeste were described as “severely decomposed,” authorities are having a difficult time trying to determine the cause of death, resulting in a delay for the toxicology and forensic test results.
Fans are also debunking D4VD’s songs and the true meanings behind them since his music revolves around strong emotions. Fans across social media are claiming that his lyrics may have malicious intent hidden between the lines, and that the current events and the case connect to some of the more suspicious lyrics in his songs. In the song “Romantic Homicide,” one lyric reads, “In the back of my mind, I killed you, and I didn’t even regret it.”
Previously, before the investigations regarding the case, D4VD had been questioned about the true intent of the lyrics and why he chose to write them. However, during an interview on “Genius” in 2022, D4VD had claimed that the lyrics were purely metaphorical and he had no malicious intentions while writing them. Despite this statement, with the recent disclosure of the case, the song has raised great suspicions among many individuals.
Another example is the music video for the song “One More Dance,” which depicts a scene where D4VD, among two others, are dragging a body into the trunk of a car. This scene in the music video has left countless people apprehensive. Even without the context of the recent homicide, the music video is already disturbing to many.
However, the disturbing appearance of the actors in the music video has led to many fans believing that it is just a blatant confession that D4VD wrote and made to conceal his guilt and actions in the form of metaphorical music.
In addition to the controversy behind the song “One More Dance,” there is an unreleased song that was just revealed to the public, and the title is truly disturbing. The song’s lyrics are described to be intense and obsessive, to the point that the true intentions of the song are concerning. Some of the lyrics in the song read, “Oh Celeste, the girl with my name tattooed on her chest, I hear her voice each time I take a breath, I’m obsessed.” Dreadfully, the name of the unreleased song is none other than “Celeste”.
Based on the title of the song, fans assume that D4VD did not try to hide his true intentions at all and that the release of the song would mark his uttermost true confession to the world. The song’s music video, lyrics, and overall everything about it have been reported as none other than disturbing and concerning. While fans continue to debate the topic, the LAPD is taking the information into account and attempting to use the evidence to build a case.
The evidence stacked against D4VD is appalling, but there have been no confirmed theories as to whether any of them are true or not. However, the titles of the songs, the music videos, and the lyrics are truly disturbing, especially since authorities described the body of Celeste as “severely decomposed”. As the case is being investigated, not much has been entirely confirmed, with most of it being purely fan speculation, small evidence, or theories made by the LAPD. Although LAPD has not labeled D4VD as an official suspect and the case is still ongoing, no charges have been filed yet–but the authorities are determined to get to the root of the case and find out who the true killer is, hoping to bring Celeste’s family closure.
