On February 13, the day before Valentine’s Day, LOHS hosted a Valentine’s Day winter event and dance. Titled “The Sweet Social,” the event had Mario Kart, inflatable basketball, pool, air hockey, and so much more. Countless clubs came together on Friday to spread the messages of their clubs, make money, and attract new people to their clubs.
Not many people went to the event, but the number of people there was plentiful. Hundreds of students came together to have fun, dance, watch a movie, and enjoy themselves with their friends before their three-day weekend began.
Clubs and different classes, such as the classes of ‘26 and ‘27, were selling different drinks and goods, all of which were described as delicious in taste. Multiple students flocked to the food stalls selling pizza, drinks, snacks, plants, and baked goods.
The DJ was blasting music all night, including the Macarena and other popular songs, inviting students to get down on the dance floor and have a great time. From 4:30 to 9, the Mario Kart sections were completely occupied, with countless people racing to get to the station first and compete against their friends in Mario Kart and win the Grand Prix Cup.
The Mario Kart and pool stations were completely stacked the entire event; never once were they empty. Many clubs also sold out of their inventory completely, while others still had some goods left.
With Bear Facts and ASB running around the place, the event was every bit of fun as it was promised in the advertisement. The Cupid’s Boutique was packed the entire day, inviting students to come in to have a taste of their delicacies and buy other sorts of goods.
People crowded all of the games and activities, and multiple individuals had to wait for their turns since so many people wanted to engage in them, especially pool and air hockey, which were completely occupied the entire night.
Freshman Cassie Orfila said, “At the Sweet Social event, I enjoyed playing Mario Kart. It’s super fun, especially because of my great skills.”
During the showing of “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days,” popcorn, chips, and other snacks were being sold to viewers to keep both their minds and taste buds entertained the entire night. Despite not many people showing up to the event, the Cupid’s Boutique was crowded the whole night, and most clubs did not have many issues with selling their products.
Freshman Keida Ramos said, “The Sweet Social was very fun, I got to hang out with all of my friends and play pool.”
As music was blasting and clubs were selling merchandise, many people flocked to the pool, air hockey, and inflatable basketball areas. Students were trying to make all sorts of crazy shots at the basketball station, with one individual even making a basket from nearly 60 yards away!
All of the shots students made were equally spectacular, and nothing can beat the fun everyone had at the Sweet Social. Despite a few people showing up, everyone had a huge blast.
