In January of this year, Health and Human Services Secretary for the United States, RFK. Jr, had announced the end of
the recommendation for all children to be vaccinated against flu, rotavirus, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, and other forms of meningitis and RSV.
All of which are mandatory for each child to have taken before entering any type of school within the country. Such as schools in California, which require parents and guardians to get immunizations for their kids before entering school. By receiving such vaccines, students will help prevent the reappearance of many serious diseases and cancer throughout their school. These vaccines were all received when people were younger and should receive a daily check-up in the following years for any other updated vaccine recommendations.
However, vaccines are not limited to only elementary school. For people wanting to go to college or professional school, the California Department of Public Health recommends certain vaccines, listing the recommended vaccines that every student should have, and whether or not it is implemented within California Colleges or not.
Along with the list from the California Department of Public Health, it states at the bottom of the chart that students in medical professions have an additional immunization requirement. All of which are emplaced in order to protect the safety of the students on campus.
Travelling is along with the list of immunization requirements, as certain countries want to know that you have taken certain vaccines in order to enter their country.
Vaccines play a role everywhere, as they are the way to protect and prevent everyone from the harmful viruses or diseases that may appear.
A student spoke on the matter of vaccines and whether or not they should use them by saying, “I believe that recommended vaccines should still be mandatory, look how much it has helped when Covid-19 was around, and it could help in the future.”
Which is why, in light of RFK Jr.’s proposition, U.S. District Judge Brian Murphy from Boston blocked federal health offices from cutting the number of vaccines for each child. Judge Brian Murphy sided with different medical groups on the impact that vaccines have on society and its protection, and argued that RFK Jr. had unlawfully altered vaccine policy and reconstituted the vaccine advisory panel.
Under Kennedy, the vaccine advisory panel at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention last year had been changed up dramatically. In which 17 members were dismissed by Kennedy and were then replaced by other people who have a background in criticizing vaccines, specifically the COVID-19 mRNA shots.
Another student had said, “The Judge, Brian Murphy, was thinking of the American people when this case was presented to him. If we had all of a sudden stopped listening to the recommended vaccines, the flu season would be worse than ever before, and there would be more sickness everywhere. Gross!”
Recently, Kennedy had been sued by several groups, such as the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Physicians, and the Infectious Diseases Society of America. Judge Brian Murphy critiqued the administration for revamping the recommendations for how children should be immunized.
In the following weeks, we will see if the case is still blocked.
