Homecoming is supposed to be a joyous night to remember. Is a celebration of the return to high school.
It’s a time that every grade can look forward to. Freshmen are preparing for their first, and Seniors are preparing for their last.
A majority of Los Osos students have expressed that this homecoming just didn’t feel right. Not just the Freshmen, but Sophomores, Juniors, as well as Seniors believed this homecoming was lackluster compared to the previous years.
But the question is, what made this homecoming pale in comparison to the previous ones?
For starters, a popular complaint among the Freshmen was the price. Many think that a price of up to 70 dollars just to walk around school at night is rather unfair.
Another popular criticism is the food. The students didn’t pay as much money as they did to just be provided with mini water bottles and small chips.
Lastly, many said the event itself just wasn’t as engaging as they were hoping it to be. Lots of people there weren’t having fun and claimed to be bored for a large portion of homecoming.
In some cases, it could have just been the people. Some explained they didn’t have dates, or their friends didn’t attend, so they didn’t like it. Not to say it was that for everybody, but some weren’t making do with what they had.
Some students wanted it inside, with a live band, and lots of food. We believe this is the bare minimum of what a memorable Homecoming should look like.
Los Osos High School set the standard for homecoming so low, so early in the year. Hopefully, within the upcoming year, the students can voice their opinions and changes can be made.
The students deserve to have an amazing time hanging out with friends, dancing in a mosh-pit, and stuffing their faces with delicious varieties of snacks.
This homecoming may not have been the best according to some students, but there’s always next year.
