Sabrina Carpenter definitely left “quite the impression” at the final show of her U.S. tour for her sixth studio album, “Short N’ Sweet”, which was released in August of this year.
Her tour stops were announced a few weeks earlier in June, and the second that post hit my for you page on Instagram, I knew I needed these tickets immediately. After my dear father fought battles against Ticketmaster, I was fortunate enough to snag some, and the eager countdown started for my tour date: November 18th (a date that will now forever be ingrained into my brain).
I have been a fan of Carpenter since she was a Disney actress, starring on the show “Girl Meets World” and other movies, including “Adventures In Babysitting” and the franchise “Tall Girl”.
Once she stepped into the music industry with the release of her first single, “Can’t Blame A Girl For Trying”, I stayed a big fan, and have eagerly watched her become a sensation, especially with the release of “Short N’ Sweet”. The album became her first number one of the Billboard 200 Chart, breaking several records in unit sales and being her “breakthrough” album.
Once the day of the concert arrived, I was practically bouncing off of the walls. While it did take almost two hours pushing through L.A. traffic to get to the Kia Forum, the lines were fast to go through and my friend and I made it through with enough time to take some pictures and buy concert merchandise.
I thought the merchandise was so cute, and while the prices were expensive, the quality was good and the designs were adorable. I got a blue “Juno” themed shirt and a brown crewneck. The photo opportunities were so cute, with lyrics being painted onto the pillars at the forum.
This was my first time at the Kia Forum, with the only other concert I’d been to having been The Eras Tour with Taylor Swift at the Sofi Stadium. I loved the venue– it felt smaller and more intimate, and was definitely easier to navigate.
I wasn’t familiar with the opener, Declan McKenna, but once he came out on stage, the energy was charged. I loved the electric beat of his songs, and despite not knowing them, I found myself moving my head to the music.
Despite his mullet jumpscaring me when I saw him, I thoroughly enjoyed his music, and have definitely been exploring his songs since then.
It was a little bit of a wait for Carpenter to come out after Mckenna’s set, but once she did, the night only got more and more better. She came out in a new, hot pink bodysuit for her opening number, “Taste”, and from the start, I was stunned by the visuals, the stage and set design, and the dancers.
I went into Carpenter’s concert a little blind. I knew the setlist and some of the popular tour customs she did, such as the spin the bottle surprise song, the different “Bed Chem” outros, and the “Juno” positions. However, I tend to avoid watching actual videos and live streams of concerts, unless I have already been to them, to save the suspense and excitement for the actual event.
I am so thankful that I did because I was so surprised by the colors and the lights, and how well they complimented every set. The theme of going from nighttime to daytime was brilliant and something I haven’t seen before in concert, and Sabrina herself was an actual angel.
This concert was definitely super sweet, and I am so happy to have had the chance to go to the final show of her U.S. leg, making it just that much sweeter.
