The Choir Performance that happened on Friday, December 13 which went very well. They sang six songs throughout the performance.
The first one was, “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” followed by, “A Festive Christmas Celebration.”
It was a mashup of very happy Christmas songs! The third song was, “Do You Hear What I Hear”.
The fourth one was called, “Christmas Day,” which was another mashup and it was written in the year of 1910.
The fifth song was called, “Darkly Caroling”. This was also a mashup of the Christmas songs, but what was different was that they were all in minor keys.
While it being in minor keys makes it sound spooky, sort of like a nightmare before Christmas vibe. So it gives it a whole new cool vibe. The last song they had performed was called, “Sleigh Ride.”
The choir performed with the band, the band would have some of their own parts because it is originally known as a band song.
The band performed the whole time with the choir and played phenomenal. The Band Teacher Steve Krumbine also directed some songs, and The Choir Teacher Mr. Leyton directed many other songs too.
At the end of the concert, the band did one more song of their own and the principal Mr. Cypher came up to the front and conducted their last song! It was a very fun and unserious way to end the night and it showed how talented the band was and how they could play without their director.
It was a song that they had memorized so when Mr. Cypher came up and did random stuff and pretended like he was doing stuff, which was a very fun way to end it all!
The performance was outstanding by far and their volume was very balanced and you can hear every section and the words clearly and they all watched the director really well and were expressive.
That’s how you know it’s a very good choir and band, but they wouldn’t be as good as they are without their incredible directors!
This show was very good and went very well! It was truly outstanding! They all sang in harmony with the amazing band backing them up.
There were giant candy cane slap sticks for sleigh rides, they were wrapped in tinsel to look like candy canes. There was a little snowman on the side of the stage which was a snow machine.
It created a very winter atmosphere when it turned on during their last song sleigh ride. Some kids also wore santa hats which added to the aesthetics of the Christmas concert.
I recently interviewed Kate Thornoton who sang in the show. “I enjoyed darkly caroling the best because it sounded completely different from the other songs.” she said.
Thornoton also said, “The band only got their music a few weeks ago before the performance and did an amazing job with the amount of time given.”
Really impressive with the band just getting their music and putting it together in just a couple weeks and performing how they did! That is true talent and was just jaw dropping amazing.
The band executed very well with the choir with an amazing performance by both of them. I would definitely go again because their music was wonderful and really spoke to you, with words and without.
