With the release of his upcoming album “Sunday Best,” Nick Jonas has formally announced his comeback as a solo artist. This will be his first solo release in nearly five years.
Nick Jonas, 33, revealed his new album, “Sunday Best,” during his private Sunday Best Brunch at Nellie’s Southern Kitchen in Las Vegas, which the Jonas family owns.
“I feel happy when artists come back after taking long breaks. I always worry they’re not going to publish anything else,” expressed Freshman Demi Dorado.
His first album in almost five years will be released on February 6, as stated on Sunday, November 30. According to a press release, 170 fans witnessed the first-ever live performances of several of the new songs.
According to the release, Daniel Wall of Behind the Wall joined Nick for the show to talk about the “inspirations, stories, and creative journey behind the album,” which includes collaborators JP Saxe, Josette Maskin of MUNA, Blush, and Ryan Daly.
Nick wrote in a press release, “I’m so excited to share these new stories, candid thoughts, quiet walks home in the city, and snapshots of my life over these past years.” Even though this album was produced over the past two years, it actually took 33 years to complete.
When asked if musicians grow during time away from the spotlight, Senior Ryane Zeif stated, “I honestly think it depends on the person and their mentality. If they aren’t putting in any work to do better, they might just be coming back because they miss it.”
Only a few weeks after Nick released the song “I Need You” at the Jonas Brothers’ November performance, Sunday Best was announced at the Prudential Center show in Newark, N.J.
A voice asks Nick, “How would you describe the album to someone who’s never heard your music before?” during a brief introduction that precedes the song, which he performed from behind the piano with the assistance of a choir.
Before starting the song, he said, “I would ask them if they knew what love is, what it really is, and if they said yes, I would say ‘Then you know what the album sounds like.”
After the poignant performance, the atmosphere abruptly changed when Nick started singing his song “Jealous” while the choir continued to perform. Longtime fans of Nick’s solo career quickly noticed that he was getting ready to perform the gospel version of “Jealous,” which he first performed in a Vevo video that received 36 million views eleven years ago.
Speaking of solo music, Kevin Jonas, 39, sang his first solo performance during this tour, releasing his own song “Changing” in November. Prior to this, he had only released and performed music with his brothers.
“I prefer solo artists because it is really amazing how one person can create a song all by themselves, and the talent of their voice,” stated Senior Keira Setvanich. “I find it really amazing how well artists can get their voice to stand on their own instead of having many different voices coming together in one song.”
Fans are excited to see how Nick Jonas’s new music reflects his journey over the past few years as the album’s release approaches.
